Students' View of the Dean's Faculty Submitted by John Mohler, '06 and Jeff Patrician '05 The Dean’s Faculty is an invaluable resource to the students here at the School. Since Drs. Stohler and Morganstein brought this program into reality in January 2004, it has had 130 volunteers step forward to take advantage of this experience. Most of the Dean’s Faculty spend time on the clinic floor, advising students as they begin their young, impressionable clinical careers.  My classmates have expressed time and time again how much they appreciate having this “real world” influence in the School setting. I have had an incredibly positive experience with the Dean’s Faculty. They are so helpful, providing advice to students on different techniques they have used on patients that have proven to work for them. It provides a very tangible link to the everyday practice of dentistry outside the walls of the School. These volunteers bring a fresh outlook, and their positive energy is contagious. --- John Mohler 2006 ---- Dr. Stohler has taken a novel approach to the faculty shortage that is affecting dental schools nationwide with his introduction of the Dean’s Faculty Program. This program is designed to give the student insight into “real world” dentistry, which they can then apply to the basic skills they have been developing as part of a traditional dental education. I must say, the program has proven to be a wonderful success. The fresh ideas and enthusiasm the new members of the Dean’s Faculty bring to the School are greatly appreciated. I have yet to find a member who isn’t more than happy to stop and speak with any student about virtually anything involving the practice, business, and technology associated with the profession. These dentists take time out of their busy lifestyles to give something back to our institution, and the enthusiasm, knowledge, and expertise they bring is something we should all be grateful for. --- Jeff Patrican, 2005
ADA Scholarship Recipient  Laura Vivier, second-year dental student, is congratulated by Dean Christian S. Stohler on her award from the American Dental Association. Vivier was selected to receive a $2,500 Dental Scholarship Award for the 2004-05 academic year. Congratulations!
